What is DVD9? DVD9 is the terminology used for a DVD Dual Layer single sided disc. A DVD Dual Layer disc can hold up to 8.5GBs of audio, video or data. Think of a dual layer DVD as two single DVDs pressed together. The term "single sided" means there is no need to flip the DVD during play, both layers are accessible during the read process. Each "half" of the disc is readable by the DVD drive changing it's laser frequency to access the data at different layers.
